| Time is an endless cycle of coming and going. Simultaneously, time is also the departure from and the return to a point of origin. I developed my "Delphis" to do justice to this inherent ambiguity. As far as I know, it"s the first wristwatch that combines three different display systems in a single timepiece. After having reached the endpoint of a semicircular arc, the minute-hand instantly leaps back to its starting point. In addition to this retrograde display, a digital hour indicator makes much smaller leaps at 60-minute intervals. At the same instant when the minute-hand reaches the "0" position, the hour disk spins rapidly forward to show the next number. Meanwhile, the progress of the seconds is shown in familiar analog fashion on a circular path. The "Delphis" and its unique display might be described as a "chronometric trinity." CH 1423
